Vancity Community Investment Bank is creating Canada’s first schedule one bank focused exclusively on the triple bottom line. The Bank offers financing and expert advice to businesses in Ontario that are investing in their communities or a cleaner environment.
Vancity Community Investment Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vancity credit union, a BC-based financial co-operative that uses its assets to help improve the financial well-being of its members while helping to build healthy communities that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.
Andy is leading the launch of Vancity Community Investment Bank, Canada’s first triple bottom line Schedule 1 bank, in Toronto. Formerly head of Community Investment at Vancity Credit Union, Andy was also a principal at New Market Funds, a non-profit owned fund management company raising and deploying capital that meets community needs and achieves risk-adjusted market returns. At Vancity, he was supporting the transition of a $6.3 billion commercial portfolio to uses that have a positive social or environmental impact. Before Vancity, Andy worked first as head of development (1996-2000) then as President and CEO (2000-2009) of Housing Vermont. There he founded Green Mountain Housing Equity Funds raising over $150 MM for affordable housing and Vermont Rural Ventures, a CDFI investing in lower income areas of Vermont.
