With its award-winning cooperative education programs and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, the University of Waterloo has been ranked as Canada’s most innovative university for 25 years.

Waterloo is home to Canada’s largest Faculty of Environment, creating knowledge, nurturing learning and promoting action to achieve sustainable futures in Canada and around the world. We believe that we can leave a strong legacy for those who will come after us through the pursuit and application of knowledge to critical global environment and sustainability issues.

Innovations in building energy technology and management strategies are essential to transition to low impact systems and to develop smart and sustainable cities for the future. The Faculty ‘walks the talk’ with its LEED Platinum certified EV3, which houses our professional programs. New offices in Evolv1, the net positive energy and zero carbon building under construction on Waterloo’s north campus, will further enhance engagement with community, corporate and research partners. The Innovation Hub on the ground floor will bring start-ups, established companies, agencies and researchers together to stimulate new building and clean tech solutions.

The University of Waterloo has been rated as Canada’s most Innovative University for 25 years. Its Faculty of Environment is the largest in Canada with over 500 graduate students working to create ‘smart green solutions’.
