At Stantec, we’re passionate about sustainability and innovation. We bring this passion and dedication to everything that we do, from renewable energy projects to district energy solutions, from healthy interior and exterior environments, to sustainable processes and rating systems.

Our team of experts, including architects, engineers and researchers, guide our clients through establishing sustainability goals, to designing and implementing deep green solutions.

Our expertise is industry recognized. The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Canada retained Stantec to develop entirely new content for BOMA BEST version 3.0. An environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings, BOMA BEST 3.0 launched in 2016.

Our Stantec team constantly explores new technologies and new ways to approach design. We also look to industry-leading systems such as LEED, Green Globes, BREEAM and the Well assessment tools.

Our healthy built environment designs make use of the latest performance tools, including building performance analyses, energy audits, energy performance and modelling, indoor environmental assessments and lifecycle costing. Our alternative energy systems strategies also utilize daylighting, efficient lighting systems, green roofs, grey and blackwater systems, natural ventilation design, photovoltaics, solar, and wind energy.

By the end of 2016, we had:

  • Over 700 LEED Accredited Professionals
  • 402 LEED-certified projects
  • Combination of 24 completed/undergoing 24 net-zero energy projects
  • Passive House projects targeting certification
